As part of the scientific activities and meetings organized by Dar Al-Shefa Hospital in Riyadh, the hospital hosted a seminar entitled “Patient Safety” in the main lecture hall. The meeting was moderated by Professor Faris Al-Enezi, Head of the Laboratory Department at the hospital. The symposium started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and a welcoming speech by the Director General, Mr. Turki bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, followed by lectures that highlighted the importance of patient safety in health facilities. A valuable lecture on “The impact of multidisciplinary approach on health care and enhancing the positive experience of the patient.” Dr. Nasser Al Talhi, Ph.D. The importance of patient participation in patient safety programs was followed by a lecture by Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Yaish, Senior Training Specialist, who reviewed the national standards for patient safety in hospitals, then concluded the seminar with a discussion by attendees and lecturers and then distributed shields and certificates of thanks to the speakers and participants in the seminar.
A large number of doctors and staff of Dar Al-Shefa Hospital, as well as guests from private hospitals in Riyadh, led by the Executive Director of Dallah Hospital Assaf Al-Assaf and Engineer Ziad Al-Habib attended.
The choice of the theme of this symposium by the hospital as it is of interest to all in addition to it is a concern for all workers in the public and private health sector and is concerned with the actions taken by health institutions and facilities to protect patients from any adverse effects of health services, and there is great interest by the authorities International patient safety organizations, where studies have shown that medical errors continue to pose a major health care challenge for all health workers,
All of this has led to serious reflection in the re-planning of preventive and remedial measures to prevent medical errors and the development of standards of safety and patient safety in local and international accreditation bodies to ensure the quality of services provided for the safety of patients
